Plays
We went to see "The Velveteen Rabbit" at the Children's Theater on their pay what you can night (see the Upcoming Events tab). All the kids liked it. We had read the book beforehand of course. Now Thomas wants to put on plays. With daddy they did "The Velveteen Rabbit", "The Velveteen Ladybug", and others. He has branched out and we have put on other plays including "Robin Hood" (which I told him they are putting on later this year). For Robin Hood we found sticks for bows and arrows. We tied yarn to make the bow and hot glued arrowheads (made of paper) and leaves on the arrows. He has started making tickets and writing the name of the play on them. He also makes programs to hand to the audience. He has practiced writing a lot in the process (as well as many other skills). I love the meaningful, self-motivated skill building that goes on in our home! I just try to provide good expereinces and a rich environment and they do the rest.
These are the tickets and the program. Stuart's (the construction paper one) was more of a book.
